A high-statistics sample of charged-current muon neutrino scattering events collected with the MiniBooNE experiment is analyzed to extract the first measurement of the double differential cross section (d 2 dT d cos) for charged-current quasielastic (CCQE) scattering on carbon. This result features minimal model dependence and provides the most complete information on this process to date. With the assumption of CCQE scattering, the absolute cross section as a function of neutrino energy (½E Š) and the single differential cross section (d dQ 2) are extracted to facilitate comparison with previous measurements. These quantities may be used to characterize an effective axial-vector form factor of the nucleon and to improve the modeling of low-energy neutrino interactions on nuclear targets. The results are relevant for experiments searching for neutrino oscillations.

First Measurement of Muon Neutrino Charged Current Quasielastic (CCQE) Double Differential Cross Section

Using a high statistics sample of muon neutrino charged current quasielastic (CCQE) events, we report the first measurement of the double differential cross section ( d 2σ dTμ d cos θμ ) for this process. The result features reduced model dependence and supplies the most complete information on neutrino CCQE scattering to date. Measurements of the absolute cross section as a function of neutrin...

Nuclear model effects in Charged Current neutrino–nucleus quasielastic scattering

The quasielastic scattering of muon neutrinos on oxygen 16 and carbon 12 targets is studied for neutrino energies between 200 MeV and 1 GeV, using the relativistic Fermi gas and a relativistic shell model. Final state interactions are included within the distorted wave impulse approximation. The different models are then employed to compute the inclusive charged–current quasielastic cross secti...

Inclusive and pion production neutrino-nucleus cross sections

We analyze the experimental data on the inclusive double-differential cross section by neutrinos charged current, measured by T2K, with the same model which was successful for the MiniBooNE quasielastic cross sections. As in our previous analysis the multinucleon component is needed in order to reproduce the data. For the total cross section, our evaluation is smaller than the SciBooNE data abo...

Charged current pi-plus production from the K2K Scibar

Single charged pion production in charged-current muon neutrino interactions with carbon is studied using data collected in the K2K long-baseline neutrino experiment. Our measurement of the cross section relative to that of charged-current quasi-elastic is consistent with results of a previous experiment and our prediction based on the Rein and Sehgal model.
